3 Good Things I Learnt from the Devil

They used to say that every dark cloud has a silver lining. And even the devil has some good qualities we need to emulate and put into practice.

I know that you are really curious to know what I learnt from the devil right?

Anyway, I’m not kidding, I learnt 3 good things from the devil. And just before I share them, I would like to tell you briefly what led me to this discovery.

I watched a movie (can’t remember the name) sometime in January about a certain Chinese warlord who went about conquering all the lands, he left blood, tears and terror every where he went.

He trained his son to take after him and the son was even worse than him. Now he gave about 10,000 men to his son and sent him to other parts to conquer more lands.

The son came to a particular village and on arriving disguised as a civilian and murdered 3 people. The guardians of the town acquitted him for murder and sentenced him to death by hanging.

Few minutes after his trial, the villagers learnt he was the son of the warlord, the villagers decided to release him out of fear.

To their utmost surprise, the chief guardian of the village refused to let him go, and insisted that he must be hanged.

To cut the long story short, he was released and after his release, he entered the village with his ten thousand men and killed half of the villagers.

However, the chief guardian whose loyal subjects has left the village before this happened, came back in disguise and killed the army by poisoning their foods and destroying their armory.

After watching that movie, I was so annoyed at the people, and asked myself some questions like:

  • Why are we re-active?
  • Must evil rule and ruin the land before the good arises?
  • Why can’t the good guy be the boss and the bad guy always flee?

So, I decided, that if I want to defeat the devil, I must learn from him and use his strategy to conquer him and rise to the top.

So after careful analysis, I learnt 3 things from the devil here they are:

3 Good Things I learnt from the Devil

1. Always be searching and creating opportunities

This is the first thing I learnt from the devil. He is never “waiting for” the opportunity. He is constantly searching and creating opportunities.

In the days of Job, “he was patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” to know those he is going to devour. Little wonder St. Peter warned us in 1 Peter 5:8

“Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.”

He has not stopped searching, but he has now added a new strategy of creating opportunities. This is why St. Paul told us in his letter to the 2 Corinthians 2:11;

so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.”

When I discovered this, i decided to always look for opportunities and create opportunities to do good. If the devil can be on the lookout for opportunities to bring me down, I need to also look for more opportunities to bring him down too and make him scared of me.

If he can be creating opportunities to make me fail, Why can’t i too create opportunities to ensure that i succeed in my mission.

So, never stop searching and creating opportunities.

2. Maximize every Opportunity

This is the second good thing I learnt from the devil. Thanks to a personal experience.  I almost fell into the trap of watching porn. Thanks to the devil’s plan of maximizing opportunity.

Here’s how it happened.

I stumbled upon a post (can’t remember the title) but as I was checking it out, I didn’t know that there were pop under ads and re directors on the site.

Before you know what was happening, I found myself in a catalog of junk videos. If it wasn’t for the grace and understanding I had now, I would have been caught in that web again.

What you call a mistake, the devil calls an opportunity.

Be careful what you do, the devil is watching for a little slip that will send you into his net.

After that experience, I knew the devil was out to make the most of every opportunity. Even when he knows he would fail, he would still try.

In the same vein, you too should always look for opportunity and squeeze the lemon out of every opportunity you can find.

Everyday, you have 86400 golden moments. Make use it to its fullest. Leverage every single opportunity and create more opportunities for yourself daily.

3. Never Give up

The devil never gives up.

He keeps tempting you and giving you all manner of advises that are cool on the outside but deadly on the inside. And no matter how many times you say no to him, he will continue to come.

So I decided that since the devil never gives up until you fall into sin, why should I give up in saying no to him until i leave this world.

Be devilishly persistent.

Whatever you are doing that is good never give it up. Never give up on on your prayer life, never give up that soul, never give up your joy or your love.

Instead keep pushing harder and harder until it happens.

In Conclusion:

You are created to operate beyond the realm of the devil. If the devil is working hard to bring you down, you should work harder to resist and subdue him.

Use these three tactics to go beyond every limit and live a good life of discipline, victory and success.

See you at the top.
