Success Qualities for a Successful Life

Success Qualities Image

So today, I want to talk about success qualities.

By success qualities, I mean traits of successful people that you need to develop, if you want to become successful. Bill Cosby said that “the secret of success is to be like a duck, smooth and unruffled at the top, but paddling furiously underneath.”

He is 100% right and this why you need these success traits to be able to paddle furiously underneath.

In this guide, I will share with you three key traits of successful people or three key qualities of successful people. I discovered these success qualities by taking my time to study successful people, and also from my own personal experience.

Although, we can make a long list of traits , I decided to keep this list to just three. And if you want to know why, the answer is simple:

Because these three qualities are like the foundation and the most fundamental traits of successful people.

Beside I don’t want to wear you out with a long list of do(s). I believe in 100% in simplicity.

So, If you are ready for success, let’s begin.

Success Trait #1: Focus

The first and most important quality to succeed, is the quality to maintain focus. If you stay focused on your goals, you will achieve them. All successful people I know are highly focused people.

Do you know why? The answer is simple…

Only those who are focused will be able to commit themselves to the process and this commitment will cause them to get things done. And success is all about doing.

Stay focused on your goals and you will achieve success regardless of the obstacles in the path.

An ancient Indian sage was teaching his students archery. One day he decided to test the skills of the student. He sets a wooden bird, called the two students to himself and asked them to aim at the eye of the bird.

The Sage asked each student to describe what they are seeing.

The first student replied “I see the trees, the branches, the bird and the eye.” When he shot his arrow, it went off target. However the second student replied “I see only the birds eye.” He shot his arrow straight into the eye of the bird.

The lesson here is simple, focus only on your goal.

Focus is all about seeing only your goal and paying the price of hard work to get it. Focus is saying to yourself: “All i want is this goal and I won’t settle for less.

No dabbler ever made it to the top. Until you maintain a strong focus on your outcome and put in your energy towards chasing your vision, you will never be able to achieve success. This is why focus is the very first trait of successful people.

So the question I have for you is:

  • What exactly are you focused on?
  • What direction is your life headed?

Success Trait #2: Discipline

If you have the discipline to keep moving towards your goal, one day at a time, you will eventually achieve it. Without discipline life disintegrates and unless you are willing to subject yourself and go through the school of discipline, you will remain in the corridors of fruitlessness.

A lot of people are scared of discipline because we have been made to believe that discipline is a punishment. Some believe that the moment you become disciplined, you loose all your freedom and become bound to some rigid, boring and tiring routine.

Some believe that once you embrace discipline, you are  going to throw away all the fun activities from your life and live like a monk.

Dear friend, I must tell you that nothing can be further from the truth.

Discipline is life. Without discipline your life will end up ruined. Discipline doesn’t take away your freedom, but instead gives you freedom. I am financially free today, because I’m financially disciplined.

Ask the super beautiful models how they got their beautiful and tender bodies, ask the great sportsman how he got so good and they will tell you one thing…

Discipline is the only friend who loves you and this is why successful people embrace it. Successful people are willing to subject themselves to the process to get the product.

Stop seeing discipline as your enemy or some hard punishment, instead see it as a training and a friend who want to help you reach the max of your potentials.

There are different areas of life where you need discipline and there different kinds of discipline, I will develop a course on discipline soon. However here is just a brief overview of the types of discipline.

Types of Discipline:

  • Physical / Self Discipline
  • Mental Discipline (The discipline of the Mind)
  • Emotional Discipline (The Discipline of the emotions)
  • Spiritual Discipline

So the second trait of successful people is discipline. If you develop the discipline, then you will be able to become successful.

Success Trait #3: Consistency

Consistency will always beat intensity any day, anytime and anywhere.

Let’s suppose I want to gain a muscle, and I spent 12 hours in the Gym for 2 days that is 24 hours. Will I gain a muscle? No! Instead, I will end up distorting my body system and falling sick.

But what if I spread that 24 hours to a 30 mins daily muscle building exercise over the next two months? (That is almost the same 24 hours.)

The good news is that I will gain tons of muscles. You know why? CONSISTENCY!

Sometimes, success doesn’t require intense effort, all it needs is small consistent actions.  Want to become a person of victory?

Learn to take small consistent action regularly towards your goal. It might seem like eternity but you will look back soon and discover that you are far away from where you used to be and you are so close to the goal you wanted to achieve.

I have been a victim of inconsistency and I can tell you a thing a two about it.

The End Result of Inconsistency

  1. Disorganization: I can tell you one thing for sure that you will be super disorganized because you can’t consistently do one thing and get it done with.
  2. Lack Trust: People will never be able to trust you because you will surely disappoint them. be here now and there later. You will
  3. Loser: By loser I mean you will be super stagnant and not able to achieve anything with your life.

So how do you become consistent?

The answer is simple, plan ahead and decide on the little bits of actions you will take daily towards your desired goal or end result.

In Conclusion:

The three key success qualities or traits of successful people you should cultivate today are:

  1. Focus
  2. Discipline
  3. Consistency

If i were to wrap up everything in this article in one sentence here is what it will be:

To achieve success in any area of your life, develop a goal and focus on that goal,  by loving the process and taking that one small consistent action that leads you closer to your goal every single day.

Now that you know this what are you going to do to make your success a reality? I would like to hear from you in the comment box below.
