Hello Friend! How are you doing?

As someone who loves networking and discussing ideas with people, there is something i noticed, let me call it a common trait i found in too many people.

This trait has held many back and it is still holding a lot of people back. I was quick to deal with early enough in my life. After dealing with it, I was able to do things differently and get different results.

Do you know what that trait is?

It is looking back at yesterday to predict tomorrow.

A number of people will easily tell you why they can’t succeed today because of yesterday.

How many times have you heard phrases like:

  • That has never happened before
  • It can’t work because I tried it before and it didn’t work
  • I wish this week can be like last week
  • His father is thief, he is no difference
  • I want to restore the former glory of our family
  • (Add your own)

A lot of people tend to think that what has happened in the past will continue to happen to them for the rest of their life. And that is why they can’t let go of their past.

If you want to succeed in life, you must let go of your past failures and mistakes and focus on the opportunities of success around you and milestones you must accomplish.

To do this, you need to do three things:

  • Don’t wear yesterday’s garment today

A lot of people are stuck in life because they can’t seem to put off the garment of their past.

Do you put on the same clothes each day? definitely no. So why should you wear the garments of yesterday, tomorrow and even for a whole month?

What are the garments of yesterday?

Garments of yesterday are moods, worries, excitements, experiences and occurrences that can be negative or positive. A lot of people have been crippled by yesterday’s failure or success that they don’t do anything with today.

All they do is talk about yesterday how they failed or how they achieve some great feat.

Fold yesterday’s garment with yesterday. And wear a new garment today.

Don’t let your day be ruined by events that are long gone and forgotten, focus on what is ahead of you and make the most of the short time you have today.

  • You must stop seeing your future in your past.

A Lot of people see their future in their past. How do people see their future in their past?

They believe that the future holds nothing for them, because missed out on some opportunity yesterday. People who see their future in their past tends to always recall their missed opportunities and how it could have changed their lives today.

They live today worrying about an opportunity that is long, long lost. This is why you here phrases like:

  • If only…
  • I Wish I had…
  • If (that event) had happen like this

Sounds familiar?

Dear friend It’s not too late to start again. You can and will even get better opportunities today. But you must rise up and face today. SO to yourself, I know that I missed this opportunity once and I really hate myself for missing it, but never again will such occur.

From henceforth, stop allowing the past opportunities be a stumbling block to all the great things you can achieve today.

  • You must stop judging the future based on yesterday.

This is the most common trait i noticed. A lot of people are always judging the future based on yesterday. They look back at their yesterday failure or success to predict today.

My Dear Friend, You are not your past. Stop allowing your past interfere with your future.

  • Because you make $1 Million today doesn’t mean you can’t and shouldn’t make $10 million tomorrow.
  • You failed at it yesterday doesn’t mean you will fail today.
  • That you are poor today, doesn’t mean you will be poor tomorrow

So, I want you to look beyond your failures and stagnancy and make plans to rise to the top. Remember that everyday has enough troubles of its own,. why add more to it from the past?

Take a bold step into the world of unlimited possibilities and wake up everyday with vigor, enthusiasm and focus.

Every new day contains 86400 magic moments. Make those moments count!

Rise up today with an armor courage, and be thankful for yesterday’s achievement but don’t let it limit your thinking, make today better than yesterday. See a bigger picture and forget about the former.

Be grateful too for yesterday’s failures and mistakes, don’t let it  cause you to become afraid of doing what you ought to do. Learn the lessons and throw away the sentiments and approach today with a new eye of hope.

This is your life, and it is ending one moment at a time, live it to its fullest.

You’ve got what it takes.

What do you think about this?
